PGA Championship day two set to tee off Friday morning at Oak Hill
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The second day of the PGA Championship is set to tee off at 7 a.m. on Friday at Oak Hill Country Club. The world’s top golfers will compete at the historic Pittsford course through Sunday.
The first day of competition got underway underneath sunny blue skies after a frost delay. Some golfers have yet to complete all 18 holes from Thursday because of the hour-and-a-half delay to the scheduled 7 a.m. start time. The course is temporarily on Thursday morning, including for practice, because of the layer of frost.
Out of the golfers who have completed a full 18 holes, American Bryson DeChambeau leads with a score of four under par.
Rory McIlroy, the No. 3 ranked golfer in the world from North Ireland whose wife is a Rochester native, finished the day at one over par. McIlroy seemed to be the crowd favorite when News10NBC asked spectators.
McIlroy is playing in a group with reigning PGA champion Justin Thomas, who also won the championship in 2017, along with Collin Morikawa, who won the 2020 PGA Championship and The Open Championship in 2021. On Friday, that group will tee off at 1:36 p.m. starting at the front nine.
