While it may not be enough to keep Bob Myers with the Golden State Warriors, multiple league sources believe that the contract offer extended to the team’s president of basketball operations would make him the highest-paid general manager in the NBA.

Myers, 48, has led the Warriors’ front office since being promoted from assistant general manager in 2012. His contract expires June 30.

The Chronicle reported last week he has been extended multiple contract offers. He’s currently in Chicago representing the team at the NBA draft combine and is expected to address the media next week upon his return to San Francisco.

Myers is seen as the architect responsible for building four championship teams with Golden State. He is expected to have a competitive market for his services if Golden State fails to re-sign him this summer. That’s if he even remains in an NBA front office.

Speaking on 95.7 The Game last Thursday ahead of Game 6 of the Warriors’ second-round playoff series against the Lakers, Myers said his focus at that time was on the team, and that he would take time after the season ended to step back and assess his future.

“Somebody smarter a long time ago gave me advice: Don’t make a decision until you have to,” Myers said.

The Athletic reported on Wednesday that Myers and the Warriors have had no substantial extension talks in months, and that both sides were bracing for the likelihood that Myers could walk away from the franchise. Sources told The Chronicle that Myers’ decision will not be fueled by financial considerations alone.

Myers is known as a family man, with three young daughters. There’s a belief that if he does walk away from the Warriors, it wouldn’t necessarily be to take a job elsewhere, but rather to spend more time with his family and take a break from the daily demands of his role.

The Warriors’ dynastic trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green have all voiced their desire to see Myers retained and continue to build on their past success. Head coach Steve Kerr said he will continue to support Myers regardless of the decision he makes.

“Bob is such an important part of our organization, not only as one of the faces of the organization, out there in the NBA world meeting with other executives and agents and representing us in that regard, but also with his relationships with other players,” Kerr said.

“Bob and I have a great friendship, a great working relationship, and I absolutely hope he comes back, but it’s also a case where I want what’s best for Bob, and if he decides that he’s going to leave, of course I’m going to support him 100%, and we will remain friends for a long time.”
