Serial-lying NY Rep. George Santos already set to face 7 challengers in 2024
Seven candidates have filed papers to challenge serial liar and recently indicted New York Rep. George Santos.
Since the Republican was indicted May 10 on federal fraud and money laundering charges, two Democrats filed statements of candidacy with the Federal Election Commission declaring they’re running in 2024 for the 3rd Congressional District post covering much of Nassau County and parts of northeastern Queens, records show.

They joined three other Dems and three Republicans, including Santos, who previously filed papers to run the race.
All are expected to experience serious scrutiny from New York’s party leaders after Santos’ first five months into his two-year term were rocked by admissions he lied about his work history, education and Jewish heritage to win votes.

Democrat Robert Zimmerman is reportedly interested in joining what is already a field of eight candidates vying for the 3rd Congressional seat in 2024, including serial lying New York Rep. George Santos. via REUTERS
Former three-term Democratic Rep. Tom Suozzi and another Long Island Democrat, Robert Zimmerman, who lost to Santos in 2022, also are possible candidates, Newsday reported.
Republican leaders are looking for a candidate to replace or defeat Santos in a primary if he is not convicted of a crime.
Santos has refused to resign and vows to seek re-election, calling the criminal case against him a “witch hunt.”
