Hogwarts Legacy is among the best-looking games released this year on PC and console, featuring an incredible recreation of Hogwarts and its surroundings. The vanilla version of the game, however, cannot compare to a modded version which features tons of visual improvements, as seen in a new video shared online today.

The new video, which has been put together by Digital Dreams, showcases the game running on an RTX 4090 GPU with all ray tracing features and a few mods, including the Ultra Plus Visuals mod, which enables ray traced global illumination and cut-scene quality for regular gameplay. Needless to say, the improved visuals go a long way to make the open-world game developed by Avalanche Software looks positively stunning.

While the visuals are an important part of the Hogwarts Legacy experience, the game is well worth experiencing even on previous generation consoles, as it is one of the games based on the Wizarding World ever made, despite a not particularly exciting open-world design, as highlighted by Chris in his review.

So, long story short, I like Hogwarts Legacy and its story, but there are certainly some issues if you don't turn your brain off. While I'm rounding up, I should also say that once the game launched and I downloaded the update, the performance seemed to plummet on occasion. While I already saw a little slowdown when using Lumos, I started to see it even more, sometimes even when not using the spell. Performance-wise, I'm still not overly down on it, but there is room for improvement.

Hogwarts Legacy is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One worldwide. The game will launch on Nintendo Switch this November, a few months after the previously scheduled July launch.
