The Flash Finale Introduces Three New Speedsters to the Arrowverse
The following contains major spoilers for The Flash Season 9, Episode 13.
The CW's The Flash finale leaves three new Speedsters behind to take up Barry Allen's legacy.
As reported by ScreenRant, The Flash Season 9's final episode, "A New World, Part Four," saw Grant Gustin's Barry Allen, better known as the series' titular hero, choose three successors to wield his powers going forward. Among these are Hana Destiny Huggins, who made her debut in the episode as Jess Chambers, aka Kid Quick, who in the comics is the Earth-11 sidekick of Jesse Quick.

Alongside Huggins' Chambers was Trevor Carroll's debut as Max Mercury, a 1940's Speedster originally known as Quicksilver; and Avery Ho, also known as the Flash of China in the comics, as portrayed by Piper Curda. Curda's Ho is the only one of the three to have previously been seen in the Arrowverse, with her introduction coming back in the Season 8 episode "Impulsive Excessive Disorder" in 2022.
Will the Arrowverse Live On?
Not only did the ninth season of The Flash mark the end of the series, it also marked the end of The CW's Arrowverse as a whole. In April, Gustin commented on putting the wider Arrowverse to rest and how quickly that realization nearly passed him by. "I mean, you're aware that you're part of a greater Arrowverse, Berlanti-verse, universe," Gustin explained, "But there's no point in thinking about the scale of it when you're just kind of learning you're scene and doing your job."

Despite officially closing out the Arrowverse with The Flash Season 9, showrunner Eric Wallace has been outspoken of his hopes to see at least some of the franchise's characters continue on elsewhere. Wallace promised fans in mid-May that "I'm going to have lunch with [Superman & Lois showrunner Todd Helbing] in the next couple weeks... I'm going to tell him, 'If you get a fourth season, you've got to sneak some Arrowverse in there. You are now carrying the torch."
The series' penultimate episode gave fans some hope of the Arrowverse continuing on, with the Barry Allen of 2049 being noted as absent due to his duties on the Watchtower, the Justice League's space station headquarters. This moment ended up being called into question with Barry's retirement, as The Flash's previously established timeline would have seen him continue on as the titular hero for at least another two decades in the series' canon.
