Taylor Swift is dropping major hints about what led to her split from Joe Alwyn, suggesting the English actor did not want to marry her.
On Friday, the Grammy winner released a new vault track titled “You’re Losing Me,” which is available only on certain physical copies of her “Midnights (The Til Dawn Edition)” album.
Though she has yet to confirm whether the song is about Alwyn, the pair went their separate ways last month after more than six years of dating — and Swift is famous for singing about her relationships.
“You say, ‘I don’t understand,’ and I say, ‘I know you don’t,” she begins, according to Genius. “We thought a cure would come through in time; now, I fear it won’t.”
In the pre-chorus, Swift wonders, “Do I throw out everything we built or keep it?” before admitting, “I’m getting tired even for a phoenix. Always risin’ from the ashes.”

“Stop, you’re losing me,” she repeats several times in the chorus, adding, “My heart won’t start anymore for you.”
The songstress goes on say she “sent you signals” but that the subject of her lyrics refused to see them. Her “face was gray,” but “you wouldn’t admit that we were sick.”
“How can you say that you love someone you can’t tell is dyin’?” she asks. “How long could we be a sad song ’til we were too far gone to bring back to life?”

Swift’s powerful bridge, in which she claims she gave “endless empathy,” concludes with the admission: “I wouldn’t marry me either. A pathological people pleaser. Who only wanted you to see her.”
Though neither Swift nor Alwyn, 32, have addressed their breakup publicly, a source told us in April that it “wasn’t dramatic,” saying the relationship simply “ran its course.”

However, Swift, 33, made headlines earlier this month for her “budding romance” with The 1975 frontman Matty Healy, and Alwyn reportedly “feels slighted and is distraught” that she moved on so quickly.
He’s also purportedly bothered that he put his “trust” in Swift when she told him that she and Healy, 34 — who worked on her “Midnights” album, which was released in October 2022 — were just “friends.”

Meanwhile, Swift is on cloud nine.
“I kind of feel like telling you — I don’t know — I’ve just never been this happy in my life, in all aspects of my life ever before,” she gushed to concertgoers at a recent Eras Tour show.
“And I just want to thank you for being a part of that,” she continued. “It’s not just the tour. I just sort of feel like my life finally feels like it makes sense.”

Over the last few weeks, Healy — who is also English — has been caught attending the singer’s concerts (the rocker was even photographed sitting with her dad), hanging out with her after hours, leaving her recording studio, sneaking into her apartment and even kissing her in public.
Alwyn, for his part, has reportedly been “doing his best to keep busy and focus on himself.”
Earlier this week, he attended his first public event since the exes called it quits.
