NYC migrant children left to drink, do drugs: ex-hotel worker
A once-trendy Manhattan hotel housing migrants has descended into a “free for all” of lawlessness and violence — where children are regularly found alone and intoxicated, a former employee said.
Carlos Arellano, who previously worked at the luxury Row NYC in Midtown, said that he and his colleagues were concerned daily for their safety at the chaotic, 1,300-room hotel on Eighth Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen, which was converted last year to house migrants flooding into NYC.
“They’re saying this place deserves to be shut down, that they fear for their life every day as well as I did,” Arellano told Fox News of his fellow workers.
Hotel staff regularly found children by themselves, often intoxicated, Arellano claimed in his Friday appearance on Fox.
“Every day, we find about 10 kids alone in their hotel rooms, either drinking or doing drugs,” he said.

“We’re not allowed to go in there, we’re not allowed to take anything from them,” he continued. “It’s basically a free for all in this hotel.”
Arellano did not say when he quit, or why.
If a guest’s behavior became so egregious that they got kicked out of the Row, Arellano said the city would merely process them at Port Authority — and send them to another shelter.

“Say a husband decides to beat his wife up. He will get kicked out and they will just process him into a single men’s hotel,” he said.
“If you break the law, it’s not a ‘Well we’re going to report to you to the proper authorities. It’s ‘Let’s give you a second or third hotel room and you still stay in the city.’”
