Boy, 15, found dead and 14-year-old fighting for life after difficulty swimming in river
A body of a 15-year-old boy has been found dead in a river whilst a 14-year-old is fighting for his life after a group of friends 'got into difficulty' swimming yesterday evening.
A search team had been assigned to look for the teenager boy after emergency authorities were made aware of the incident that took place in the River Eden in Carlisle at 6:41pm.
Four teenagers were involved with Cumbria Fire and Rescue airlifting a 14-year-old boy who has been described as being in a critical condition. Two other teenagers were also checked by medical experts.
The fire team also revealed that one of the teenagers managed to swim to safety whilst another was rescued safely by a member of the public.

No formal identification has yet been confirmed, however the family of the 15-year-old have been informed. They are being supported by specialist officers.
A file will be prepared for the Coroner.
Chief Superintendent Lisa Hogan, Cumbria Constabulary, said: 'This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the family of the 15-year-old boy at this difficult time.
'An extensive search operation has taken place since the incident was reported yesterday evening. The search activity was assisted by emergency services, search and rescue teams, and specialist search professionals from Cumbria and from outside the county.'
The incident took place during the hottest weekend of the year to date with temperatures across the UK reaching the high teens and early 20s.
