Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom Player Points Out Maddening Design Choice
As gamers continue to play and discover new things about The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, one player pointed out a maddening flaw in the game's menus. After taking a picture and showing what the matter was, the gamer shared their findings on social media with other Tears of the Kingdom players.
Since its release, Tears of the Kingdom has become one of the most-played games on the Switch to date. Though the game has scored highly on sites such as OpenCritic, that has not stopped Nintendo from releasing patches and updates to fix some outstanding issues. A few days ago, Tears of the Kingdom version 1.1.2 fixed an item duplication exploit that players once took advantage of, on top of fixing a quest objective that prevented players from progressing. But, it may take more than a single patch to fix what one player pointed out as a maddening oversight.

On Reddit, a user named MagicReader278 found a weird design choice in the game's Key Items menu. On the R/Zelda subreddit, MagicReader278 discovered that the colors of the icons for three of Link's abilities, namely Ultrahand, Fuse, and Ascend, do not line up with the colors of three of the Sages' vows as well. However, the colors for Recall and Autobuild lined up with the other two Sages' vows towards the right side of the menu. Whether MagicReader278 intended to have the icons for the Sages' vows or for Link's abilities to change order remained unclear.
The post from MagicReader278 received over 1.1k upvotes within a few hours of posting on the r/Zelda subreddit. In the comments, other Tears of the Kingdom players indicated that the Sages' vows appeared in the order that Nintendo may have intended for players to follow in order of difficulty, much like how Link's abilities are lined up, with Autobuild coming later than the rest. However, the same players found the placement of the icons to be infuriating as well, and both thanked and chided the OP for pointing out the detail. While the color disorder may not be as maddening a mess as The Legend of Zelda series' timeline, it is unlikely that Nintendo will see fit to change the menu icons' order.
While the discovery may be a strange menu design choice from Nintendo, that has not halted the sales of Tears of the Kingdom in the slightest. As the game continues to shatter sales records, it remains to be seen what Nintendo will do for Tears of the Kingdom going forward.
