Man dies after shooting near southwest Houston gas station
HOUSTON – A man has died after a shooting near a southwest Houston gas station.
It happened around 5:10 p.m. in the 14700 block of Main Street.
According to Commander Jonathon Halliday with HPD, officers arrived within two minutes of the initial call and found a man with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest in the parking lot with other people rendering aid to him.
“As officers were walking up to the scene, they heard additional gunshots from the wooded area behind that,” Halliday said.
Officers began searching the area and a man who walked out of the woods was detained. Police are still trying to determine what, if any connection he has to the shooting.
The victim, believed to be 25-30 years of age, was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries.
Halliday said it appears there is a small homeless encampment in the wooded area behind the gas station and they believe the victim may have lived there.
Police continue to talk to potential witnesses and ask anyone who has any information to please contact them.
