2 dead in Highway 1 crash on Peninsula
(KRON) — Two people were killed in a crash in San Mateo County on Tuesday evening, California Highway Patrol’s Redwood City division confirmed.
The crash was a head-on collision on Highway 1 at Bean Hollow Road near the town of Pescadero, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said. Two vehicles were pulled from a lagoon after the wreck.
The crash was called in to police at about 6:40 p.m. Rescue teams were deployed at about 7:30 p.m. and are still conducting a search.

There is no information regarding how many occupants were inside the involved vehicles. One “critically injured” victim was taken to a hospital.
Highway 1 was shut down in both directions due to the wreck. Currently, one-way traffic control is in place, Caltrans said. Drivers are told to expect delays.
