Tropical Storm Arlene to weaken, cause more storms Saturday
Tropical Storm Arlene was set to weaken as it continued moving southeast on Friday afternoon in the Gulf of Mexico.
The storm’s moisture prompted a forecast for more rain storms in South Florida on Saturday, and with some areas saturated over the last few days, it won’t take much to get some minor flooding in South Florida.
Arlene is set to continue to drift south toward western Cuba and weaken with no direct impact.
According to the latest National Hurricane Center’s track, the storm was moving toward the south-southeast near 7 mph, and a slightly faster south-southeast motion was expected over the weekend.
The Atlantic hurricane season kicked off Thursday and runs through Nov. 30. Last year’s season had 14 named storms, with extensive damage caused by Hurricanes Ian, Nicole, and Fiona.
