Iga Swiatek’s bakery is one of the best in the business, but she doesn’t want to discuss her bagels and breadsticks.

After cleaning up Wang Xinyu on Saturday in a double bagel win 6-0, 6-0, the heavy French Open favorite and world No. 1’s smile vanished when asked about the “Iga’s Bakery” social media meme, as she wants to be “respectful to my opponents.”

“Look, I don’t want to really talk about that. I really get why people do that because it’s fun and tennis is entertainment and everything,” Swiatek said. “But from the players’ point of view, I want to be respectful to my opponents. You don’t see the stuff that is behind the scenes. Sometimes it’s not easy to play such matches, and sometimes it’s not easy also for the opponents.”

The “Iga’s Bakery” was born during a dominant 2022 for Swiatek, who won both the French Open and U.S. Open last year.

Fans reveled in Swiatek’s frequent set wins of 6-0 (bagels) and 6-1 (breadsticks.)

“I don’t want to talk about the bakery. Twitter can talk about it, but I’m just going to be focused on tennis,” Swiatek said.

This is the second time this month that the Polish 22-year-old won by not dropping a game after besting Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in Rome.

Swiatek has only let eight games in three matches slip away from her in Paris this year and nine opponents have lost at least one set 6-0 against her.

Saturday put another order through in the bakery, as she beat Wang under an hour (51 minutes) to set up a fourth-round matchup on Monday against Ukrainian player Lesia Tsurenko, who was a victim of Swiatek’s in Rome last month as well, losing 6-2, 6-0.

She said playing Swiatek is “one of the biggest challenges on tour.”

Tsurenko also posted an impressive result on Saturday, taking down the 2019 U.S. Open champion Bianca Andreescu 6-1, 6-1.

“I just had a match against her in Rome, which was good just to feel how she’s playing and to feel the speed of her shots,” Tsurenko said of Swiatek. “It was a good lesson for me, so I will try to play better this time.”
