One killed and four injured after car crashes into group on lower Manhattan street corner
One person was killed and at least four were injured when a car crashed into a group of people on a street corner in lower Manhattan on Sunday evening.
The victims, some of whom were said to be migrants, were on the intersection of East 21st Street and Third Avenue when a grey Hyundai plowed into them.
Police say a 26-year-old man was driving north along Third Avenue and hit three pedestrians and one cyclist on the right side of the road. He was seen in handcuffs.
A 23-year-old man died on the scene, a 27-year-old woman fractured her leg, and a 21-year-old man suffered a cut to his leg. An 18-year-old cyclist suffered injuries to their leg and back, ABC7 reported.
A 25-year-old female passenger of the Hyundai suffered a broken right leg. Two e-bikes were seen on the scene destroyed in the collision.

According to a witness some of the victims were migrants staying nearby at the old NYPD academy shelter.
George Colli, who heard the crash and rushed to the scene to help, told PIX11 at least some of the victims were migrants.
'This corner is right a block away from the Gramercy Training Academy where they have 300 to 400 immigrants sheltered, and that's not an area that has rooms, it's not a hotel,' he told the station.
'They often hang out on the street corners. This happened right at a LinkNYC Wi-Fi and charging station where many of the immigrants will go to make calls home, video, FaceTiming, and so on,' he said.
A witness who heard the crash said a number of the victims on the corner were migrants who has been staying at the Gramercy Training Academy and were using a LinkNYC Wi-Fi station

One of the women injured was taken away on a stretcher
At least one cyclist was injured in the crash on Sunday evening
One of the cars appeared to have hit the LinkNYC kiosk that was being used at the time of the crash.
A second was towed away and the driver was put in the back of a police cruiser in handcuffs.
He is currently being evaluated for DWI and his identity has not been released.
