The crime drama series Perry Mason has been canceled by HBO executives after two seasons on the air.

HBO provided a statement about the series, whose lead recently saved a pub in his native Wales, to express that the show would still be fondly remembered by its crew and fans.

The statement began: 'We are tremendously grateful for the remarkable work of Matthew Rhys and the unrivaled cast and crew of Perry Mason for their reimagining of such a treasured and storied franchise.'

It was then stated that Perry Mason's creative team would still collaborate with HBO's staff on various shows.

The new iteration of Perry Mason premiered in June of 2020, and its cast was led by Matthew Rhys.

The show's cast also featured performers such as Juliet Rylance, Shea Whigham and John Lithgow.

Robert Downey, Jr. and his wife Susan served as two of the program's executive producers.
