Madden 24 features crossplay, and its PC version finally matches the console versions.

Following similar recent strides made with the FIFA series, EA Sports has dragged the Madden series into the modern era. It means the PC version of Madden 24 is on-par with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S versions.

Speaking to IGN as part of a Madden 24 hands-on, senior producer Mike Mahar said the making the PC version at least as good as the console versions was something the developers had wanted to achieve previously.

“We have these hand-wringing conversations every single year about the things that our players want and that we want to deliver and whether or not, on an annual basis, we can afford them,” Mahar explained.

“And the simple fact of the matter is, it's not that we didn't want to do this sooner, it's just availability of resources and priority to be able to get it done. We've been on the transition from previous gen to current gen. We're there now. We've been there for a couple years.

“And now it's just us being able to focus on getting some of these other things done for the players. So it's nothing more than the ability for us to actually have the time and space to do it. But it's always been something we wanted to get to.”

Meanwhile, Madden 24 crossplay comes with few caveats. Don’t expect it in Franchise Mode at launch, for example. Like in FIFA Ultimate Team, Madden Ultimate Team profiles will remain separate in order to avoid upsetting the in-game economy. And like in FIFA, Madden has a toggle to filter by platform or turn off crossplay entirely.
