Much-needed rain approaching Metro Detroit as poor air quality persists
4Warn Weather – Good Friday morning!
We’ll remain dry today, but we’re expecting some much-needed rain this weekend.
Air quality issues persist today, with an air quality alert extended through today.
Another air quality alert
Our Friday will be similar to Thursday. Pollutants in the atmosphere caused by wildfire smoke are expected to be in the “unhealthy for sensitive groups” range.
It is recommended that active children and adults, and people with respiratory diseases such as asthma, limit prolonged outdoor exertion today.
Air Quality is expected to remain in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups on Friday, June 9th, 2023
Dry Saturday before rain arrives
Saturday will be sunny and still hazy, due to the wildfire smoke. Highs will be in the mid-80s.
Clouds will move in Saturday night, but it’s expected to remain dry until Sunday. Lows will be in the mid-50s.
There are plenty of events going on this weekend including Taylor Swift’s tour making two stops in Detroit, Motor City Pride taking place in Downtown Detroit, and many other things. As of right now, the forecast looks to remain dry for most of the weekend.
Expect sunshine and warm temperatures for Saturday before rain moves into the region Sunday afternoon and evening
Rain moves in Sunday
Clouds will increase overnight Saturday into Sunday morning. Some computer models show rain on Sunday morning, but I think the dry air will win the battle for at least the first half of the day.
Showers should move in Sunday afternoon and evening. Rain is expected to become widespread by 1 p.m.
Sunday highs will be in the upper 70s.
Rain continues next week
Much-needed rain showers will continue into early next week.
Monday showers will be spotty throughout the day, but the rain will become more widespread on Tuesday. Highs will be in the low and mid-70s both Monday and Tuesday.
Some spotty rain will linger into Wednesday morning. After the low pressure system moves east, we’ll have some sunshine on Wednesday. Highs will be in the low 80s.
