Diablo 4 players plan to skip seasons because of exhausting renown grind
Diablo 4 has taken the world by storm, but the exhausting gameplay loop that comes with any old ARPG is apparently making some players want to skip future seasons. This issue becomes even more evident in Blizzard’s latest series installment since the developers are reportedly planning on restarting the map with each chapter update, which naturally means you will also have to grind out the renown that comes with it all over again.
Naturally, this includes having to rediscover all Fractured Peaks waypoints locations all over again since you’ll essentially be starting with a completely foggy map. Now, even though this thought may sound appealing to some for now, a majority within the community think that this won’t last simply because most are playing through the game for the first time.
A concerned Reddit user named 247duensch even created a post pleading with the developers not to make them go through the exhausting map completion activity again. According to the post creator’s message, they also went on to ask their friends how they felt about having to explore the map repeatedly just to unlock the locations they’d already seen before. All of the people they posed the question to predictably said that they don’t see themselves “doing that even in the first season again.”
Most of the people responding under the thread shared a similar thought process as many seemed immediately exhausted at the mere idea of having to “do the same quests and tedious tasks over and over.” One person even bluntly commented that they “still can’t give a sh*t about altars and map” and that there’s “no way” they’re re-doing this every season.
Unfortunately, it still remains to be seen what the entirety of Blizzard’s future plans look like for the latest installment as the game was only recently released to the public. Based on the community’s reactions, though, they may need to rethink the planned seasonal grind that comes with each update. Otherwise, Diablo 4 might just lose a chunk of its player base each time a new chapter comes around.
