Diablo 4 Reveals Game's Most Popular Class
A few days after the official release of Diablo 4, it's been revealed that the Sorcerer class is the most popular class in the game. While most players have their favorite class to defeat Lilith’s minions in Sanctuary, it seems that one of the Diablo 4 classes is standing above the crowd and draws more players than the others.
Just like previous entries in the Diablo franchise, players have the choice between various classes in Diablo 4, each with unique abilities. At launch, the game features five different classes: Barbarian, a strong warrior who can switch weapons during a fight; Sorcerer, a mage wielding elemental powers; a Druid who can shapeshift between human, werewolf, and werebear forms; Rogue, a fighter who specializes in melee combat with quick movements; and Necromancer, a dark mage able to summon creatures. Players can then select abilities from a talent tree specific to each class to create the perfect build to defeat enemies in Diablo 4.

Rod Fergusson, the executive producer of Diablo 4, shared a tweet revealing that Sorcerer is the most played class in Diablo 4. This class was already present in the original 1997’s Diablo and its sequel Diablo 2, but was missing from Diablo 3 where it was replaced with the Wizard. It seems that players were happy to have the Sorcerer available in Diablo 4, as the class is the most-played on Blizzard’s ARPG three days after its official launch.
In the comments to this tweet, players shared screenshots of their Sorcerers. Some were surprised that Necromancers were not at the top of this list, considering they often meet this class during their adventures in Sanctuary. Rod Fergusson himself said his favorite class was Necromancer, but he didn’t share any additional information regarding the popularity of each class, leaving players to wonder which one was the least favorite in the Diablo 4 community. A few players also asked for more classes to join Diablo 4 in future updates, such as the Demon Hunter from Diablo 3.
No matter which Diablo 4 class they picked, players can explore the open world of Sanctuary and team up with others to try and defeat Lilith and her followers. Diablo 4 received mainly positive reviews, with players enjoying the possibility to defeat world bosses together and discover a large variety of dungeons. However, Blizzard’s decision to make Diablo 4 a live-service game made some players wonder what would be next for the game and its post-launch content roadmap.
Diablo 4 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
