Rockstar Games have made this summer’s GTA Online named San Andreas Mercenaries available to download 48 hours early. This pre-load is a first for GTA Online updates.

This update can only be downloaded on PS5 and PS4. You can’t play the new update either. It is simply just to save you time when the patch officially releases on Tuesday 13th June around 10am BST.

San Andreas Mercenaries’ pre-load was first spotted by saiyambansal100 on Twitter. Their screenshot shows that it come in at around 5.572GB on PlayStation 5. Insider Tez also shared the PS4 download size. It will be 2.291GB on that console.

Unfortunately Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC players will have to wait until Tuesday June 13th at around 10am BST to download the update. We’ll cover their download sizes once they are available.

Despite this never happening with a GTA V update before, it is not entirely uncommon. Call of Duty Warzone and Modern Warfare II’s big patches release a couple days early ahead of the season launch. It does make a lot more sense for those games as their patches are often huge in download size. These two GTA Online updates for PS4 and PS5 are not that big in comparison but this is a nice feature for those with slow internet speeds.

GTA Online’s San Andreas Mercenaries update will add brand new missions and vehicles plus change the game for the better with long awaited improvements. You can read about most of the changes here.

It was also announced GTA+ members will be getting new and exclusive content as well in the form of The Vinewood Car Club. We covered everything we know so far about this new car club here.
