One of the conversations regarded the updated presentation and gameplay of Persona 3 Reload. Players can anticipate a new dash function while exploring the ever-evolving dungeon of Tartarus, and certain aspects have been added to make the locale more enjoyable. However, these facets have not been specified.

The Persona 3 Reload producer clarified that the game will feature added main story content from Persona 3 FES but lack The Answer epilogue and the female protagonist from Persona 3 Portable.

Interviewer: One of the most significant changes was in the graphics. Was it difficult to reconstruct the original version released on the PlayStation 2 with the same quality as Persona 5? Yamaguchi: Yes, it certainly was! (laughs) When it comes to the characters, we put a lot of effort into the 3D models and the portrait illustrations during conversations in order to achieve the kind of quality and finish that users expect on the current generation of consoles. All of the portraits are very expressive, and the 3D models are so detailed and pleasing to look at on a big screen. Interviewer: And it seems that the school, town, and dungeons have also been reconstructed to match the head height of the 3D models. Yamaguchi: We didn’t just increase the size and scale to match the height of the new 3D models but also tweaked certain elements to have a sense of density in terms of interactive features and landscapes. Niizuma: Every aspect of the game has been redesigned, but Tartarus has undergone a particularly large change. Appearance-wise, it might look the same, but we have made the game fun to play by adding elements worth exploring here and there and making it possible to dash while moving.

Persona 3 Reload is a remake of Persona 3 made in Unreal Engine. The game is confirmed to release for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows in early 2024. It will also be playable for Game Pass subscribers on launch.

Persona 3 Reload will likely be confirmed for other platforms in the coming days.

Persona 3 was initially a PlayStation 2 title that birthed the concept of Social Links that would follow in Persona 4 and Persona 5. Then, a director’s cut version named FES launched later, featuring a new playable epilogue called The Answer and added enhanced gameplay features.

Years later, Persona 3 Portable was released for the PSP, which removed The Answer and the ability to walk around town but added the option to play as a female protagonist and new post-game challenges.
