The longtime Manhattan apartment of John Mayer is up for rent asking $17,500 per month, The Post has learned.

Mayer, 45, lived in this Soho apartment at 225 Lafayette St. from 2006 to 2013.

Beyond this former home, the Grammy-winning musician is also known for being friends with Bravo honcho Andy Cohen for 25 years — but it was while Mayer lived in this apartment that the two solidified their relationship, sources revealed.

“This was the time that John and Andy started hanging out a lot,” an insider said. “They both lived really close to each other, still do today, and their friendship just kind of blossomed from there.”

Cohen had moved into 2 Horatio St. at the time, where he still resides, in addition to a West Village penthouse unit he purchased last year for $18.3 million.

Mayer, meanwhile, purchased this corner two-bedroom, three-bathroom unit for $2.17 million, later selling it for $3.19 million, records show.

Cohen, regarding Mayer, admitted to being completely “star-struck for the first five years.”

“I’m still titillated by our friendship, but I’ve gotten over the excitement of the newness of it,” Cohen told Howard Stern on Wednesday. “At some point 20 years into a friendship you digest that it’s there.”

He also triggered major chatter following the episode of Stern’s SiriusXM show, saying that he was “in love” with the “Gravity” singer.

“I am in love with John Mayer. We are in love with each other.”

Mayer has also spoken out about his friendship with Cohen.

“I’ve walked with him down city streets and been on FaceTime with him as he goes about his day, and each and every time he’s recognized, he’s said ‘hello’ to just like a friend. ‘What’s up Andy?’ ‘Hey Andy!’ ‘Loved what you said about de Blasio!’ He’s also my friend, my dear friend,” Mayer said. “And there are times in life when you just need a friend you can count on.”

“He’s a Madonna stan and a Deadhead. He’s an A-lister, who parties like a B-lister, with the free spirit of a C-lister,” Mayer continued. “I love Andy more than I can tell you. He’s a brilliant human being, a hilarious cohort, a loving son and brother — and more recently he’s become a proud, engaged and deeply devoted father.”

At the time Mayer was living in the 12th-floor apartment, he was only 12 minutes by car from where Cohen was living.

Occupying more than 2,000 square feet, Mayer’s former apartment recently underwent a complete renovation.

Fully furnished, the unit features 16 oversize windows for optimal sunlight, a home office for remote work and panoramic city views.

Other features include an entry foyer, a dining space, Brazilian Walnut floors, high-beamed ceilings and an open chef’s kitchen with top-end appliances, the listing notes.

On the other end of the home is an expansive primary suite, which has been pegged as a “quiet retreat.” It boasts a sitting room, a king-size bedroom, and an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower and a double vanity.

The secondary bedroom also comes with an ensuite bath, and “can easily accommodate an office or reading nook,” the listing notes.

To complete the home, there are in-unit laundry facilities, a powder room for guests and storage space.

The home was last sold in 2018 for $3.92 million.

Shortly, after Mayer sold the residence, he moved to Montana to get away from the spotlight. Around this time, he caught heat after a series of interviews referencing former girlfriends such as Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston.

Cass Gilbert, the architect whose portfolio includes the Woolworth Building, designed this 12-story landmark Soho building in 1923; it was converted to a condominium in 2005.

Building amenities include a full-time doorman, a full-time superintendent and a recently renovated landscaped common roof deck with 360-degree city views.
