Wichita police investigate shooting outside church near 11th & Oliver

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Update: The Wichita Police Department confirmed one person was wounded Friday afternoon outside a church near 11th and Oliver. Police haven’t reported any arrests in the case, but did say officers “have taken people in for questioning.” EMS took the seriously injured person to a local hospital.

A second person taken to a hospital from the scene wasn’t wounded, but had a medical emergency, police said.

As of early Friday evening, police said they believe there was one shooter.

Update: Wichita police confirm at least one person was shot outside of a church near 11th and Oliver. Another person may have suffered a medical condition.

Sedgwick County dispatchers said the shooting victim suffered critical injuries. The condition of the medical patient is unknown.

Police confirm a funeral was going on at the church when the shots were fired, and the two are connected.
