The “Skyrim Grandma” Shirley Curry won’t appear in the upcoming Starfield, according to her recent statements. Known in the community for her delightful Skyrim videos, Curry will appear only in The Elder Scrolls 6, skipping Starfield entirely.
Shirley Curry, the famous Skyrim Grandma, is a YouTuber who got her fame after uploading some Skyrim videos and becoming a huge, unexpected hit online. She loves the Elder Scrolls series and got so much traction online that Todd Howard even promised to make a character based on Skyrim Grandma in The Elder Scrolls 6 after some fans started a petition.

Now, the Skyrim Grandma herself confirmed that, despite her participation in the upcoming Elder Scrolls 6, she will not be present in any capacity in Starfield. In a Reddit post, it’s possible to see a screenshot in which she confirms that she will probably not even play Starfield at all. Previously in her own channel, she said that the space setting of Starfield was not as appealing to her as the fantasy setting of the Elder Scrolls world, and she’ll keep waiting for the next TES instead. Some time ago, Shirley even told Todd Howard to hurry up with TES 6, as she wanted the chance to see the game before she passed away, as she’s already 87 right now.
The discussion on whether Skyrim Grandma would appear on Starfield started after some fans spotted a character named “Grandma” in one scene during Starfield Direct in the Xbox Games Showcase, and believed that it could be her. In light of her remarks, however, this should not be taken as an official cameo, and more like a possible Easter Egg.
Despite Shirley’s lack of enthusiasm for Bethesda’s upcoming sci-fi RPG, the game is selling fairly well ahead of its launch. Starfield is already near the top of Steam’s sales chart despite being several months away from launch. The game was able to outsell even Street Fighter 6, which was only recently released. Most of this hype is due to Bethesda not releasing any single-player RPG since 2015's Fallout 4. When coupled with promises of Starfield being bigger than any other title made by the company before, fans are eager to see what Bethesda is ready to offer.
Starfield releases September 6 for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
