DENVER (KDVR) — Two males were killed in a crash when the car they were traveling in hit a parking garage Sunday afternoon, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened around 1:30 p.m., on East Dry Creek Road between South Yosemite Street and South Alton Way.

The sheriff’s office said witnesses told investigators that two cars were racing eastbound on E. Dry Creek Road. The car that crashed was going in excess of 100 mph, ACSO said.

After the vehicle hit the parking garage, it burst into flames.

ACSO said the driver died at the scene and the passenger was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

All eastbound lanes of East Dry Creek Road were closed while ACSO investigated the crash and reopened hours later.

The crash remains under investigation.
