Country Roads Trust Addresses Change in WVU Basketball
Country Roads Trust, WVU’s NIL collective, addressed the recent change in the basketball program on Monday morning with a statement. Country Roads Trust makes it known that the community must come together and that they have already reaffirmed support from sponsors.
“Mountaineer Nation, it’s with deep sadness that we watched Bob Huggins, our Hall of Fame men’s basketball coach, step down. And while we may not understand everything that’s happened, one thing that’s certain is we must come together now, today, more than ever. We must make sure our programs — especially the men’s basketball team — remain together and strong.
“In that spirit, many of our supporters have reaffirmed and increased their commitment to the Trust, and the men’s basketball program over the last couple days. We hope that this is the start of a wave of support across the country for our nationally recognized program. Join us in demonstrating our resolve and love of WVU Athletics.”

Over the weekend, Bob Huggins resigned as head coach of the Mountaineers, leaving the program after 16 years. Huggins was charged with DUI on Friday night.
Huggins and his staff were able to bring in a top transfer class in the portal this offseason, as the staff had great NIL money to work with. It is unknown whether or not the current 13 players will stay with the program. The NCAA grants student-athletes 30 days to enter the transfer portal after a coaching change.
