Final Fantasy XVI Download Size Is as Massive as Expected
Final Fantasy XVI's release is right around the corner, and the PlayStation database has been recently updated to reveal the game's massive size and pre-load date.
As reported by PlayStation Game Size on Twitter, the latest entry in the series by Square Enix will be 90.18 GB big, which may not be as big as that of other recent titles, but it is still massive nonetheless. Also, this is the size of the game's 1.000.000 version, so the total size will likely be even bigger with the day one patch that was recently confirmed by the development team. Pre-loading will begin two days before the game's launch, on June 20th, giving players ample time to download the game to have it playable as soon as June 22nd arrives.

Despite the development team revealing that no day patch was in the works, Final Fantasy XVI will still get one to address the performance issues which are evident even in the playable demo. The patch will fix a control flag issue that stops progression under specific circumstances, a crashing issue, minor text errors, and optimize performance in several places. While combat runs smoothly, for the most part, in the playable demo, exploration sequences are not as smooth in either display mode, so any performance optimization will be extremely welcome.
Final Fantasy XVI launches on June 22nd exclusively on PlayStation 5. You can learn more about the next entry in the series by checking out Kai's final preview.
