Galaxy S24 Codename Gets Revealed As Samsung Reportedly Starts Work On The Next Flagship Lineup For Next Year
The Galaxy S23 lineup launched in February, and after just four months, there is evidence that Samsung has started development work on the Galaxy S24 series, thanks to the latest codename revelation. It is likely that the Korean firm will be working on three flagships for next year, though there are rumors floating around talking about the axing of the ‘Plus’ variant.
Samsung is internally calling the Galaxy S24 lineup ‘Muse,’ but it cannot be confirmed if this is for one model or all of them
Information coming from GalaxyClub and Sammobile mention that ‘Muse’ is Samsung’s codename for the Galaxy S24 series. Last year, it was reported that the Galaxy S23’s codename was ‘Diamond,’ and since it was applied to all three models, the term Muse will likely be referred to the next three. The new report did not dive into the specifications of the 2024 Android flagship, but there were previous rumors that were doing the rounds.
One of them talked about the removal of the Galaxy S24 Plus, but assuming that Samsung goes through with this plan, what would it launch in its place, or would it simply proceed with the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Ultra unveiling? Unsurprisingly, factual information is not available at this time, so we will have to exercise some patience. One of the biggest debates would be if Samsung would re-introduce a top-tier Exynos chipset next year to be used in its premium handset lineup.
Qualcomm has already announced its Snapdragon Summit, which will be held from October 24, so it can immediately be assumed that the company will unveil a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 while possibly working with Samsung to exclusively provide the latter with a ‘beefed’ up version of its upcoming SoC. We have heard whispers that the Exynos 2400 will be Samsung’s next top-end silicon, with previous benchmark results revealing that it can beat the M2, but it is likely an exaggeration as we have seen those hyped-up scores before, only to be left bitterly disappointed.
One reason why Samsung may resort to using the Exynos 2400 in the Galaxy S24 series is that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 would be too costly. To remind you, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is rumored to be sold for $160 to Qualcomm’s phone partners, making it more expensive than Apple’s A16 Bionic. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 could be priced even higher, eating into Samsung’s margins, which would force it to use the Exynos 2400 and alleviate those losses. Again, it is too early to make assumptions about the Galaxy S24 launch, so we will wait for more updates in the future.
