Star Ocean The Second Story R Team States Screenshots Reflect Party Lineups Not Present In Final Game
The official Japanese Twitter account for the Star Ocean franchise has shared a new statement following some confusion expressed by fans. In the promotional material for the upcoming Star Ocean The Second Story R, fans identified a screenshot depicting a party lineup that should not be possible in the original game.

In particular, Dias Flac and Leon D.S. Gehste, are shown to be in the same party in a screenshot. This was not possible in previous releases of the game since Dias can only be recruited during Rena’s story route, while Leon is only recruited during Claude’s story route.
However, the team clarified that certain promotional screenshots that have been released are not indicative of the final party builds players can expect from the full game. The official release will have party compositions based on the original Star Ocean The Second Story.
The full statement from the official Star Ocean Twitter account is translated below via our team’s Ryuji:
“Some of the development images posted on the store pages could be perceived as showing party compositions different from those of the original version. The images have been replaced as of June 23. The main storyline and party members’ joining specifications are based on the original version.”
Star Ocean: The Second Story R will feature fully voiced event scenes with the original voice cast, a newly arranged soundtrack by original composer Motoi Sakuraba with new songs, including some with a live band, as well as the new Break and Assault Action combat mechanics.
