San Antonio International Airport said an airline ground crew member died in an accident Friday evening.
The accident occurred on the ground, the airport said in a news release early Saturday morning. It did not identify the ground crew member or explain how they died.
“We are deeply saddened by this accident and are working with authorities as they begin their investigation,” the airport said in a statement.
The person was employed by a company that Delta Air Lines contracts with to support ground handling operations, a Delta spokesperson said.

The airline is fully supporting the investigation, it added.
Airline passenger Michael Braun said he was scheduled to board a 5:49 a.m. Delta flight before it was canceled at 12:45 a.m. He said the accident “caused a ripple effect with lots of rescheduling of passengers.”
Delta said operations are now running normally at the airport.
