Dalvin Cook 'likes' Tyler Conklin welcoming him to the NY Jets
The New York Jets would welcome anyone who can help their Super Bowl run, says Dalvin Cook’s former teammate
Dalvin Cook likes himself a Twitter like. One scroll of his social media will tell you that.
However, the likes on content linking him with the New York Jets have come fast and furious recently. Yesterday, Garrett Wilson said he’d love to play with the former Viking. Today, it’s former teammate Tyler Conklin who’s banging the drum for Cook.
Conklin, who spent the first four years of his career playing with Cook in Minnesota, was asked if there was room for the running back on the Jets roster during an appearance on Good Morning Football. His response says it all:
“Oh there’s plenty of room,” Conklin said. “We’ve got room for whoever wants to come help us win a Super Bowl.”
Conklin went on to say that although there are already many running backs on the roster with Breece Hall, Michael Carter, and Israel Abanikanda, the idea of Hall and Cook is a “special” backfield. It’s hard to disagree with that.
How healthy is Hall?
Hall looked to be on his way to competing for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award last year before injury cut his season short. Although he’s made positive strides in his recovery this offseason, it’s still unclear when he’ll be back to his best.
Adding someone like Cook to the Jets would provide some serious insurance. As long as Joe Douglas can fit him under the cap, it seems he has plenty of support in the locker room. It also reiterates that the goal this year isn’t just to make the dance, but to be the last one standing when the confetti falls.
Although we’ve been through the stats before, it’s worth reiterating that Cook is coming off a year where he rushed for over 1,000 yards and eight touchdowns. According to reports, he is fully healed from a 2022 shoulder injury. That being said, there are also reasons to be less sanguine about his productivity level.
Cook has been linked with every AFC East team, and it’s likely that’s where he’ll find his new home. Miami is also prominent in his tweets. Jets players, for one, seem to prefer for him to play with them.
