Dee Jay players perform a gentlemanly dance off for the crowd during Street Fighter 6 tournament match

CEO 2023 was a tournament event that captivated the attention of Street Fighter fans around the world over the weekend. Almost 1,100 players signed up to compete at the first supermajor for Street Fighter 6, so we got the opportunity to see how competitors are developing their characters' metas.

At one point in the tournament, HawaiianShirtMan ended up facing off against Light Strider. Notably, both players are Dee Jay users so this resulted in a mirror match.

As the set began, both players opted to jump back rather than fight for stage control. Following this, HawaiianShirtMan and Light Strider then proceeded to perform the Speedy Maracus, which is effectively a glorified taunt that builds super gauge.

While the super gauge awarded by Speedy Maracus is nice, this move tends to be too slow to have any practical purpose in a real match. It's evident that both players agreed to put on a little dance for the crowd before actually beginning their set.

Once both gauges reached three bars, HawaiianShirtMan and Light Strider both used their level 3 super arts at around the same time. This was still part of their rehearsed as they had no chance of hitting one another from these distances.

It's always interesting to see these type of moments as it takes a lot of trust for these type of scenes to happen. If one player wanted to, they could secure a rather extreme advantage by tricking their opponent.

While such a tactic would be considered to be scummy, it would be tournament legal. Fortunately, we've never seen such a betrayal in the fighting game community.
