Oshozan-u Shrine location and solution for Tears of the Kingdom (Totk)
Test your strength in the Oshozan-u Shrine
Oshozan-U Shrine is one of those shrines in Tears of the Kingdom that is directly inspired by real life. It features some fun puzzles, but it still packs a challenge if you aren’t prepared.
We’ll cover everything you need to know to complete the shrine below. But first, let’s take a look at how to find (and reach!) Oshozan-U Shrine.
How to find Oshozan-U Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom
Oshozan-U Shrine is located in the Hebra Mountains area of Hyrule. These mountains are freezing, so wear your most cold-resistant clothing. The closest fast travel point to Oshozan-U is Pikida Stonegrove Skyview Tower, which sits to the southwest of the shrine. You can reach Oshozan-U by gliding northeast from the tower across North Tabantha Snowfield.
However, the shrine is located at the top of a plinth that is covered in ice. To successfully climb it, you’ll need clothing that stops Link from slipping, such as the Froggy armor or a boost like the sticky elixir. Alternatively, if you have Tulin’s Sage of Wind ability, you can climb the mountain to the south and glide over to the shrine using two gusts to get there. You might need a little luck to actually reach it with this method, so don’t worry if it takes a couple of tries.
Whichever technique you decide to use to reach the shrine, check out the screenshot above to see its exact location on the map.
How to complete Oshozan-U Shrine
The setup in the first room of Oshozan-U Shrine might look a little familiar. It’s essentially a Hyrule version of a High Striker, the strength testing machines you might find at carnivals and in arcades. Naturally, that means that to get through to the next section of the shrine, you’re going to need to show how strong you are. Well, kind of. This High Striker requires more of a mental strength, as the only way for Link to activate the big button is through ingenuity.
To begin, take the log on the floor and use Ultrahand to attach it horizontally to the stone cube on the wall. Next, take the rocket and attach it to the log so that it’s facing in the direction of the button. See the picture above for the exact placement of each piece. When you have all of your parts in place, strike the stone cube with a melee weapon or an arrow. The whole unit will fire off into the target, proving that you are indeed the strongest Hyrule has to offer.
Grabbing the treasure chest
When you enter the next room, you’ll see a similar obstacle. However, before we get to that, there’s a treasure chest to be had.
On the left side of the room is a pillar with a chest at the top. Take the larger log from the floor in this room and place it against the wall, in the gap between the two extended parts, so that it becomes a ramp that Link can walk up and reach the top. Your placement of the log needs to be very precise for Link to be able to reach. At the top, open the chest. You’ll receive a rather useful Zonaite Bow, which is pretty nice for low and mid-level players.
The last puzzle
Now that you’ve got your loot, you need to take the log back to the other side and attach it to the wheel that sits in front of this room’s target. Connect it to the wheel vertically. If done correctly, the log should be resting on the floor while connected to the wheel.
Next, take the smaller log and attach it horizontally to the center of the wheel. See the picture above for the correct placement. Finally, the rocket connects to the small horizontal log. It has to be facing in the opposite direction as the target since the wheel needs to spin around to activate the button.
With everything in place, strike the log that’s resting on the floor. If you’ve connected everything correctly, the wheel should violently spin around. The vertical log will strike the target with immense force, lighting it up green and opening the final door.
A successful strike will look something like the picture above. And with that, Oshozan-U Shrine is complete!
