WATCH: Storm blows roof off Terre Haute storage building
VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Reports of downed trees and power outages are coming in from all across the Wabash Valley after a severe thunderstorm swept through the area on Thursday afternoon leaving behind damage.
In a video shared with WTWO by viewer Kassie Walls the roof of a storage building at Diamond Equipment in Terre Haute is ripped off by the storm’s high winds.
WTWO reporters and photographers have been tracking the damage throughout the area. There are reports of street lights without power, downed trees, and blocked roadways and residential areas near Fruitridge Ave., along 7th Street, and on southbound lanes on U.S. 41, and eastbound on SR 48 in Hymera. Motorists should use caution when driving in those areas.
Vigo County Sheriff John Plasse commented on the damage seen in the Terre Haute area.
“Damage and outages are widespread. If you don’t need to be out please stay off the roads so emergency crews can clear roads and get power back on for those affected,” Plasse said.
