Young & Restless: Is Ashley Right About Diane Using Jack?
Credit: CBS screenshot
Young & Restless has done its best to keep the momentum going after the sudden exit of its latest big bad, Cameron, but they’re going to need another villain soon. In the meantime, we’ve got a fantastic vixen who is finally getting a story. Thoughts on the week:
Make It Make Sense
Many fans were up in arms this week about Chance giving up the Chancellor mansion to Devon and Abby. I’ll say this: his reason didn’t make a lick of sense. Dom was confused going back and forth between the mansion and the penthouse?! He’s been doing that since he was born! Also, does the owner, Jill, get a say?
Aside from the lame explanation, viewers would rather have seen Chance remain in his family home and prosper than see it handed over to Devon and the woman who cheated on him. It’s not like the billionaire can’t afford to get them a place just as expansive. On the other hand, Devon is Katherine’s grandson, and Dom her great-grandson, so it’s not the worst thing in the world. I suspect that Lily will score Devon’s condo as the spoilers indicate she’ll make a “big move”. Let me know where you stand on the musical houses issue in the comments.

Downright Delightful
Okay, I’m loving this turn of events with Kyle and Audra. I knew they were going to hook up, but not three times in one night! Kyle is showing no regret, which means Young & Restless is leaning into the messiness — a very pleasant surprise and something that’s been desperately needed. I, like Audra, see Kyle as “uptight”, so it made him instantly more interesting to go down this road. Audra, meanwhile, is turning into the quintessential vixen. I was downright delighted when she spotted Summer and walked right up to her in the Athletic Club, knowing she’d bedded her husband. I cannot wait to see these two throw down when Summer finds out about Kyle’s extracurriculars. Moving forward, as spoilers hint at Kyle “playing with fire”, it turns out Audra will be doing the same given she’s about to receive a serious warning from none other than Victor Newman about sniffing around his granddaughter’s man. Audra doesn’t strike me as easily intimidated but she’s also not stupid… and she works for Newman, so there’s that. All in all, it’s shaping up to give us some juicy material.
The Diane Saga
There are plenty of fans complaining about the Diane storyline dragging on. I’m beyond ready for her to finally show her true colors. If you look at the big picture, however, it’s already happening, though it’s been gradual and subtle. As Ashley predicted, now that Diane has Jack wrapped around her finger, her first move was to make a play for a power position at Jabot. In a twist, Billy became the voice of reason after the press release, which led to me enjoying his scenes for the first time in a very long while. He screamed at Jack that he’d started a war with Ashley, and then grilled Ashley on what she was up to. What she’s up to, of course, is starting a competing company with Tucker. It’s not good news for the family business and will send Jack into a right tizzy.
As for the Phyllis side of the storyline, I’d say they’re stalling her return until closer to the point when she will be proven to have been right about Diane all along. What else is the point of it all? Phyllis’ reunion with Michael was a nice tease though.
In related commentary, I was surprised when Summer told Michael that she’d heard that Christine was just waiting to find her mother before laying charges against her. But wouldn’t arresting Summer be the perfect way to lure Phyllis out of hiding? You know she’d go all Mama Bear and wouldn’t be able to stay away.
Stick It To Him
Called it! Sharon’s life-changing twist involved her receiving an inheritance from the late, and not at all great, Cameron Kirsten — but now what? Sharon told Nick that she considered the legal paperwork so much garbage as she doesn’t want anything belonging to the diabolical stalker, and yet the preview shows her telling her ex-husband she has an idea — that would require him to get his hands dirty. Intriguing! Nick, who has nothing but time thanks to his manipulative sister turfing him from his COO position, agreed to the caper and told Sharon, “Whatever it takes.” This must be some kind of plan to stick it to Kirsten posthumously, but how? Let me know what you think Sharon and Nick will do in the comments.

Odds and Ends
Upcoming spoilers have Adam persisting with Sally, which is a bummer. It’s time for Adam to turn to his dark side and regain a bit of the edge he’s completely lost… Love, love, love the Michael and Lauren scenes. They always bring sexy back!… Victor’s behaving out of character with this whole Nick and Nate business. He worked overtime to convince his son to come back and work for him and he just let Victoria shove him out knowing full well what her motivations are?! Come on. Here’s hoping there’s a method to his madness.
This is my opinion. Please feel free to leave your thoughts on this week’s Young & Restless in the comment section.
