Christopher Morel Now Leads the Chicago Cubs in Homers!
Christopher Morel wasn’t called up to the big league team until May 9, but fewer than two months later, he’s leading the team with 15 home runs (t-23rd most in MLB).
His latest came in the 8th inning of Sunday night’s finale between the Guardians and Cubs and pushed him beyond Patrick Wisdom (14) for the team lead.

That one left the bat at a blazing 110.4 MPH traveling 418 feet. That was also Morel’s second hit of the day, which brought his season-long slash line up to a fantastic .275/.323/.614 (147 wRC+) … including a strikeout rate under 30%! That is a huge, crucial development for the Cubs long-term. Hopefully he can finish the season strong offensively and find his defensive home.
