Nier announced for Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising along with some new game details
No, not like the Square Enix game
Fighting game fans will be able to get their hands on Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising later this month in the upcoming beta, and now we know a bit more about the title going in.
During their panel at Anime Expo 2023, Cygames announced that Nier will be joining the cast as a new playable character as well as some more details about the game.
Nier is described as a puppet character similar to Guilty Gear's Zato-1 and BlazBlue's Carl Clover, and this is what the official description says about the fighter.
"Nier can summon the primal beast Death to fight alongside her in battle. When death is present, her skills can be input ahead of time to play out the sequence at the cost of Love's Redemption.
Death will become temporarily unusable when out of Love's Redemptions, but that won't stop this pair from posing a formidable threat."

On top of the new character, Cygames also held a Q&A section to answer some of the community's questions regarding Versus Rising.
The previously announced Siegfried will indeed be included in this month's beta test, but Anila will not.
Mechanics like Rush and Tactical Move have been removed in favor of new actions to perform like Raging Chain.

Versus Rising will also introduce Partners that cheer players on in matches and apparently offer advice, which may sound similar to Street Fighter 6's in-game commentary, but is described more like Navigators for the fighting game.

As far as we can tell, there was no gameplay shown off for Nier, and the teaser showing her off doesn't appear to be online yet either.
Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising is set to release worldwide in 2023 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam.
