A wildly popular Japanese bargain store chain is about to expand to a new location in San Francisco.
Daiso, known for its surprisingly cheap but great quality dishware, hard-to-find East Asian snacks and beverages, toys, stationery and more, is slated to open a 5,115-square-foot store on the second floor of Stonestown Galleria on July 22, according to a Tuesday press release. Founded in 1977, the 100-yen shop is the largest of its kind in Japan with over 5,500 locations across the globe and several throughout the Bay Area, including in Daly City, Emeryville, Alameda and San Jose. Most of its offerings range between $1.50 and $2.
