After more than 30 years, this S.F. neighborhood bistro has closed
Curbside Cafe, a longtime neighborhood bistro in Pacific Heights, has closed its doors permanently after more than 30 years.
The restaurant announced the news in a Facebook post Friday and in a note to customers on the door of the business at 2417 California St., just off Fillmore Street.
“The lease has ended and we are personally not able to renew it,” a representative for the restaurant wrote. “You, our customers, have been loyal and we have loved having you as a part of our neighborhood family.”
The San Francisco Standard first reported the closure.
Curbside Cafe was owned and operated by husband-and-wife team Olivier and Gwyneth Perrier, who met at the restaurant. Olivier Perrier, who was born in Lyon, France, had worked as a waiter and manager at the restaurant for five years, the New Fillmore reported in 2010, before the Perriers became owners. At the time the duo took over in 2010, the California Street location had been home to Curbside Cafe “for more than 20 years,” according to the New Fillmore. Olivier Perrier was not immediately available for comment.
The neighborhood bistro served a robust menu of global fare all day from Mexican breakfast classic chilaquiles and French onion soup as well as steaks, crabcakes and sandwiches.
