Detroit-based Clark Hill acquires Chicago law firm
The deal, announced today, is the firm's third acquisition this year, after having added real estate firm Larsson & Scheuritzel and litigation boutique Conrad O’Brien, both in Philadelphia.
“We have been looking to expand our bench strength in the Chicago market. When FVLD approached us, we quickly knew we’d found the right match,” Clark Hill CEO John Hensien said in a press release.
In 2015, Clark Hill signed a lease for 71,813 square feet at One Prudential Plaza, a deal that almost doubled the space it had at 150 N. Michigan Ave. FVLD will leave its offices at 55 W. Monroe St.
Clark Hill, which has 27 locations and more than 700 lawyers across the U.S., Ireland and Mexico, entered the Chicago market in 2007.
FVLD, a full-service law firm founded in Chicago in 1981, brings lawyers with experience in fields including corporate law, commercial litigation, intellectual property, and mergers and acquisitions.
“Chicago’s legal market has been and continues to be robust and competitive,” Kevin Morse, member-in-charge of Clark Hill's Chicago office, said in the press release. “Our new colleagues bring significant bandwidth and top-flight talent to the firm, materially increase our transactional capabilities in Chicago, and will be integral to our continued growth and success locally, across the country, and in international markets.”
