Joel Embiid, 76ers in Eastern Conference Group A for in-season tourney

The 2023-24 season will feature a new wrinkle in the NBA schedule. There will a new in-season tournament starting on Nov. 3 as all 30 teams will be playing for the NBA Cup.

The Philadelphia 76ers, as well as the other 29 teams, will be grouped into different groups. They will then work through the tournament to try and make it to the semifinals and the title which will take place in early December in Las Vegas. All games and stats in the tournament will count toward the regular season.

Joel Embiid and the Sixers will be in Group A in the Eastern Conference. They will be lumped in with the Detroit Pistons, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Indiana Pacers, and the Atlanta Hawks.

The tournament games will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays with the exception of Nov. 7 for election day. Eight teams out of the 30 will advance in the tournament and each team will play the four teams in their group. The NBA posted a Twitter thread explaining the rules.

Embiid and the Sixers will look to make some waves during the in-season tournament to build momentum for the playoffs and chase a championship.
