The very first question was really a mix of two, as a shareholder asked Square Enix President Takashi Kiryu about efforts to approach the younger generation of gamers and, the subject of this piece, which girl he picked in Dragon Quest V.
For those unaware, Dragon Quest V has players pick a girl to marry, with the original featuring Bianca and Nera (Flora in Japanese). The DS and mobile versions of the game added another marriage candidate, Debora, though this question seems to regard the original release.

Question 1 – Users are getting older, which is a serious issue. I would like to hear Director Kiryu’s thoughts on how to approach the younger generation. Also, I would like to know whether Director Kiryu has chosen Bianca or Flora. Answer 1 (Director Kiryu) – I chose Bianca because she is vivacious, whereas Flora is quiet. With regard to approaching the younger generation, our Group has a wide range of business areas, including not only the game business but also the publishing and amusement businesses, and the range of our content is also diverse. Some of our content does find favor with the younger generation. While leveraging these assets, we would like to increase our reach to the younger generation and expand our fan base by strengthening our global publishing system.
Bianca, at least from what I’ve seen over the years, is the generally more popular option. I’d choose her over Nera, too, so it’s nice to know Square Enix’s new President has good taste. Still, Debora is my preferred choice overall.
