The prison sentence for Elizabeth Holmes, the disgraced founder of the failed Silicon Valley blood-testing startup Theranos, could be reduced by almost two years, according to a projected release date posted on the Bureau of Prisons website.
Holmes was convicted in January 2022 on multiple counts of fraud and conspiracy for her role in deceiving investors and endangering patients with fake blood-testing technology. She was later sentenced by U.S. District Judge Edward Davila to 11 years and three months in prison, but this week, the Bureau of Prisons’ site showed that she will be released on Dec. 29, 2032, meaning her time is prison was shorted to a little over nine years.
