Deebo Samuel apparently isn’t interested in rehashing the past.

The star 49ers receiver shut down a conversation on CBS Sports Radio’s “The Zach Gelb Show” Monday when asked about previous statements made about the Eagles, whom Samuel said San Francisco would have beaten in the NFC Championship game had quarterback Brock Purdy not gone down with an injury.

When Gelb revisited that sentiment on air, Samuel replied, “I don’t know that though.”

Samuel was then asked if he still believed that notion, to which the Pro Bowler responded, “I do, but we’re not gonna keep talking about that. I said what I said.”

As the radio host pressed Samuel about the 49ers and Eagles’ upcoming rematch this season in December, the chat began to veer off the rails.

“I don’t know. Just wait until Week 13, 12, whatever week it is, and we’ll show you,” Samuel said before what appeared to be a public relations specialist stepped in.

“Alright, we’re good to go,” the individual said.

The show was apparently promised 15 minutes with Samuel with the talk only lasting around 5-6 minutes.

“We got hung up on because all we did was ask him about the quarterback situation, and then Philadelphia, and we got hung up on by Deebo Samuel? That’s a joke, an absolute joke. That’s absurd,” Gelb said.

It seems Samuel is trying to turn the page from January’s 31-7 loss that sent the 49ers packing and the Eagles to the Super Bowl.

Shortly after the 49ers’ season-ending defeat, Samuel remarked the outcome would have been different had Purdy been under center the entire contest.

“So the [Eagles] offense wasn’t doing anything,” Samuel said in February, according to 49ers Webzone. “Our defense was doing what they were supposed to, and I feel like if Brock was in as our quarterback and how our offense moves, I don’t think it would have been close.”

Early in the game, Purdy was sidelined with a torn ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right elbow.

Purdy’s backup, Jack Johnson, left the field with a concussion soon after.

The 49ers and Eagles will meet on Dec. 3 in Philly during Week 13 of the 2023-24 season.

It remains to be seen who will be starting for San Francisco.
