Cubs vs Nationals: Injuries, Pitching Probables, Broadcast Info
Cubs vs Nationals — Brett said it perfectly this morning: The Cubs don’t necessarily HAVE to sweep the Nationals this week at Wrigley Field to keep the buying option open. BUT … they do have to sweep somebody and it doesn’t get any easier than facing the last-place Nationals at home*. So…
*Unless the Cubs could find a way to face the Cubs on a Sunday. Then they’d be guaranteed to win.
The Cubs don’t have Marcus Stroman or Justin Steele scheduled for this series, and Drew Smyly has been on an absolutely brutal run here lately. Plus, Patrick Corbin (pitching tomorrow) just tossed 7.0 innings of one-run ball against the Rangers his last time out and kept the Mariners scoreless over 7.0 innings three starts back. He also kept the Cubs to just two runs over 7.0 innings earlier this year. But the Cubs are going to have to make it work. Otherwise, this is the end of the line.
