Colorado football coach Deion Sanders has faced criticism from fellow coaches and even media members ever since he took over the Buffaloes’ vacancy.

Sanders has managed to sound out the haters, however loud they may be, at least up until Tuesday when the 55-year-old issued a stringent response to some of his recent critiques.

“Please read this slowly. I’ve Never responded to any of these Great coaches that choose to target me or our program here @CUBuffsFootball. I’m Great at walking & talking the talk & if it were truly me I would’ve referenced a LAMBORGHINI. That’s #CoachPrime,” wrote Sanders on Twitter.

Sanders also took issue with an apparent fake quote which was circulating around the internet, in which Sanders was said to have described Brent Venables as having been “handed a Ferrari” and then “crashed” it at Oklahoma, leading to the Lamborghini reference in the tweet above.

The 55-year-old vehemently denied having made those comments, asking for help to “track down” the source that “put the lie out.”

On Monday, Venables admonished Sanders’s utilization of the college football transfer portal, prompting a strong response from Colorado’s coach.

“I gave guys 12 months of grace. I was unlike Deion [Sanders]. I gave guys 12 months of grace to figure it out,” said Venables, via KREF Sports. “Here's three: Go to class, live right off the field, and when you show up here you show up with respect and appreciation with your opportunity. And if you go 0-for-3 for 12 months, you need a fresh start, so we helped 21 guys, give or take, find a fresh start."

In a separate quote from Big 12 Media Days, via OUNightlySports, Venables suggested Sanders “gave a pink slip” to the players who departed the Buffaloes football program.

Venables isn’t the only vocal critic of of Sanders, however. Back in spring, Pittsburgh head football coach Pat Narduzzi voiced similar criticisms of Sanders and his use of the transfer portal. Sanders’s comments also seemed to be addressing the remarks from Narduzzi.
