Crews battle fire at Dallas church
Dallas Fire-Rescue battled a 6-alarm fire at a church located at 2200 South Marsalis Avenue that started Tuesday afternoon.
Crews received a call at around 1:54 p.m. and noticed smoke coming from the vents and eaves of the building when they arrived.
The fire spread throughout the building of The Saintsville Church of God in Christ.
Dallas Fire-Rescue battled a fire at a historic church located at 2200 South Marsalis Avenue that started Tuesday afternoon.
Flames could be seen shooting through the roof of the church as fire crews worked to extinguish the fire.
According to the Dallas assistant fire chief, 150 firefighters and 30 engines responded to the scene.
Crews were rotated every 15 minutes to provide some relief in triple-digit temperatures.
The fire started in the Sunday school room, according to officials.
Crews penetrated the roof to allow some ventilation and then realized there was another roof underneath that caused complications in fighting the fire.
The fire has been extinguished and crews will continue to water hot spots. A firewall protected the sanctuary, according to officials.
No injuries have been reported.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
