The Florida Gators got a direct recruiting win over a chief rival Tuesday night as four-star wide receiver Tawaski Abrams (Fort Myers, FL) decided to commit to the program. In doing so, the former Florida State pledge flipped to an in-state rival in a move that was not on the radar of most entering the day.

Abrams (5-foot-11, 175 pounds) had been committed to the Seminoles since January. While the Gators were long seen as a contender to pull him away, when he left in June following a visit to Gainesville, Florida, the thought was that his final decision may not come for a while.

Instead, Florida on Tuesday added a speedster coveted by wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales ranked No. 276 overall in the 247Sports Composite to its growing Class of 2024.

The quick-twitch athlete becomes the third wideout to join the 21st member of a class that does not have many open scholarships remaining. Abrams is also the fourth player to commit to the Gators in the last eight days overall and the third Sunshine State prospect in that group.

Florida remains the No. 3 team in the 247Sports Composite team rankings, again closing more of the gap with Ohio State for the No. 2 spot.
