150-pound statue, other items stolen from "Beetlejuice 2" set in Vermont
Police are searching for those responsible for stealing a 150-pound statue and other items from the set of the highly anticipated “Beetlejuice 2″ film in Vermont.
Police said they received reports of two strange and unusual incidents from the East Corinth filming site, which included the theft of a large, skeletal statue and a lamppost with distinctive pumpkin decoration on top of it, Vermont State Police said.
“We tried saying the name of this stolen statue three times, but it didn’t come back!” Vermont State Police quipped in a Facebook post about the incident on Friday. here’s quote
Just after midnight on July 14, security personnel told police an older-model GMC pickup truck drove up to the lamppost on Village Road, removed its base and drove off with it, NBC 5 reported.
Movie staff then confirmed on Monday thieves had struck again and the statue had been taken. Police said they believe it was snatched sometime between 5 p.m. on July 13, and 11 a.m. July 17.
No arrests have been made.
“Beetlejuice 2,” a sequel to Tim Burton’s iconic 1988 horror comedy about a mischievous poltergeist from the “netherworld,” expected to be released in September 2024, according to Variety.
Michael Keaton will reprise his role as the title character and “Wednesday” star Jenny Ortega will star as the daughter of Lydia Diaz, played in the original movie by Winona Ryder, who is also returning for the sequel.
The movie is being produced by Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment.
