Greta Gerwig surprises the audience of Alamo Drafthouse movie theater in New York City before a screening of Barbie... after it broke box office records on 'Barbenheimer' weekend
Greta Gerwig surprised audience members during a screening of Barbie that took place at an Alamo Drafthouse cinema location in New York City on Friday night.
In a set of photos that were shared on the theater chain's Instagram account, the 39-year-old filmmaker made the most of her time at the outing and was seen while addressing the crowd that had assembled to watch her movie.
Her surprise visits comes after Barbie and its main competitor, Christopher Nolan's dark biographical drama Oppenheimer, have managed to clinch several box office records on their so-called 'Barbenheimer' opening weekend.
The filmmaker, who recently revealed that she welcomed her second child earlier this year, donned a blue denim jumpsuit while spending time at the screening.
Gerwig also accessorized with a crossbody purse and wore a white cap that bore the logo of her newly released movie.
The Lady Bird director's gorgeous blonde hair paired well with the dominant tone of her outfit.

The feature was also a hit with audiences, and the project has grossed $70.5 million since it was released, according to Box Office Mojo.
Gerwig spoke about Barbie during an interview with IndieWire and spoke about the movie's meta comedy-heavy focus.
'I think it was definitely something where when turned in the script, which was the wild, anarchic thing that it is, there was this general feeling of, no one will let us make this,' she said.
She added: 'I really put it down to Margot, who all the way along as a producer and as an actor, stood in front of it and said, "This is the one I want to make and let's figure out how to make it." And they just, shockingly, went with it.'
